It all started with a rejected proposal. The editor didn’t like anything but the prologue and asked if I’d build a new story around it. I started Chapter One at a bizarre murder scene that end up on the front porch of a mobster’s planation estate in New Orleans. Detective Charlotte Caissie hears a low drawl from out of the shadows that almost makes her jump out of her crime scene-stained boots. “Kinda early to be making house calls, isn’t it, Detective?” I was in the middle of Book Four before I came up for air. The characters, the city, the action, the dialogue as Cee Cee and Max danced around their dangerous attractions for one another had me completely hooked. 

Four more books followed. These “Shadows” books, continued the same storyline but with new heroes and heroines. Then Book Nine was a return to Max because readers demanded it. And now, in Book Ten, “Shadows” hero, Cale Terriot steps back into the forefront because my imagination demanded it.
